Frequently Asked Questions

BlephEx® is a quick, in-office blepharitis treatment that uses a handheld device with a medical-grade micro-sponge to gently exfoliate and clean the eyelid margins. It removes bacteria, biofilm, and debris that cause inflammation and discomfort.

During the procedure, numbing drops are applied for comfort. The rotating micro-sponge then cleans the eyelids and lashes, eliminating buildup that contributes to blepharitis and dry eye symptoms. The treatment takes about 6 to 8 minutes and is painless, often described as a tickling sensation.

Anyone suffering from chronic blepharitis, dry eye symptoms, eyelid irritation, or recurrent styes can benefit from blepharitis management with BlephEx®. It is also recommended for contact lens wearers and those with poor eyelid hygiene.

For effective blepharitis management, BlephEx® treatments are typically recommended every 4 to 6 months, alongside regular eyelid hygiene at home.

Side effects are minimal and may include mild redness or irritation that usually resolves within 24 hours. The procedure is safe when performed by an eye care professional.
