Medical Research by Asian Eye Institute: Important Things You Need To Know

At Asian Eye Institute, we are committed to advancing eye care knowledge through cutting-edge medical research. Our doctors, medical interns, and staff work hard to publish papers and document their findings when it comes to new treatments, diagnostic techniques, and technologies that can be used to address eyesight-related issues.

Asian Eye Institute is committed in improving the overall health of populations in the Philippines and the Asia-Pacific Region through research and innovation. Since 2002, Asian Eye doctors have been collaborating with pharmaceutical and biotech companies to discover new medical solutions and provide patients with innovative and excellent care.

With over 116 clinical trials and investigator-led researches, Asian Eye has become one of the leading sites in Asia for testing latest medicines and ophthalmic devices. Drugs like Retisert, Ozurdex and Simbrinza are now available in the market. Asian Eye is also home to pioneering treatments and technology, such as:

  • Victus Femtolaser – a laser treatment that makes cataract surgery faster, more precise and more comfortable
  • Supracor – a laser treatment that restores both near and intermediate vision
  • Selective laser trabeculoplasty – treatment for advanced glaucoma
  • Sutureless vitrectomy – a retina procedure that significantly reduces operating time and post-operation discomfort

As leaders of eye care innovation, Asian Eye has produced numerous international publications that have served as reference for local and international doctors in treating their own patients. Its doctors have also been recognized by prestigious organizations, such as the Philippine Academy of Ophthalmology (PAO), American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS), Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO) and Asia-Pacific Association of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (APACRS).

In 2014, it started conducting non-eye health related researches – from development of study proposal, conducting of research, collection and analysis of data to development of report.
